Me and my wife at a ceremony for my being a full-time freelancer for 15 years

More about me

I studied translating at the Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz ... a long time ago. During that time, in 1995,  I landed my first literary translation job: Der Präsident (Absolute Power) by David Baldacci. I was excited beyond words and hooked by the experience.

Even during my ten years with a producer of conveyor and warehouse automation systems, mostly in sales, I kept on translating novels in my spare time.

In 2003 it was time for a change and I became a full-time freelance translator. And while I do dedicate the same degree of professionalism and accuracy to any translation job, the work I love most still is translating books. Admittedly, it's hard for an operating manual to arouse passion.
